Why Does MoveU exist?

Physical activity is a central component for the maintenance of health and wellbeing. It is also a key ingredient in academic success. MoveU is here to help get the U of T student body and community more active and become more knowledgeable about health and fitness.

What is the MoveU Crew?

The MoveU Crew is a group of students at each of U of T's campuses who promote physical activity in various ways.

How much physical activity do you need?

According to the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines, adults aged 18-64 years should aim for 2.5 hours of physical activity a week. Focus on moderate to vigorous aerobic activity, broken into sessions of 10 minutes or more. In addition, try to incorporate at least two days per week on muscle- and bone-strengthening activities.

Making time in your busy schedule for physical activity can improve the way you feel, think and learn. Physical activity can also help to:

  • Reduce stress

  • Give you more energy

  • Improve productivity and academic performance

  • Contribute to positive mental health

  • Boost self-esteem

  • Strengthen your body and increase overall fitness

  • Prevent chronic diseases like cancer, Type 2 diabetes and heart disease
